Look who I found in my apple tree this morning:
A pair of cardinals! Oh please oh please build a nest and live here! Actually that’s not fair because my cat will chase them. I don’t think they were staying though – they were flitting around so fast I could barely get a good picture. In that one above they’re actually in my neighbor’s tree. Here’s the female:
Isn’t she pretty? The morning was foggy. I couldn’t get the male to sit still (the chase was on!) but this was the best I could get of him, from behind:
I first noticed them because his bright red color was standing out so much in the mist. Here’s one more of both of them, just for fun:

Over here in Leverett-from the sound of it-the peepers are engaged in some serious courtship!
